(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Oilers and ATCO are gearing up to hit the road for the 11th annual Oilers Hockey Clinic presented by ATCO. This year's clinic, focused on grassroots hockey development, will head east to Vegreville, Alberta for the first time in Oilers Hockey Clinic history.
Held at the Vegreville Recreation Centre from April 26 - 28, 2019, the Oilers Hockey Clinic presented by ATCO is free of charge for 100 lucky participants in the community and gives players aged seven to 13 the opportunity to experience high-calibre training while further developing their hockey and life skills in a fun atmosphere.
All local players aged seven to 13 that are interested in participating, male or female, are invited to register by Friday, April 5, 2019 at 5:00 PM MT. A random lottery will follow to determine the lucky participants.
"The Edmonton Oilers are proud to support grassroots hockey development throughout Northern Alberta and partner with ATCO to bring the Oilers Hockey Clinic to Vegreville this April," said CEO and Vice Chair of Oilers Entertainment Group Bob Nicholson. "We know Oilers fans and the entire community of Vegreville are excited about this opportunity and will enjoy the weekend. The Oilers believe passionately in youth hockey development to build lifelong skills in young athletes both on and off the ice."
Kicking off the weekend, all Vegreville and surrounding residents are invited to a complimentary Oilers Community Kick-Off presented by ATCO held on Friday, April 26 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM MT at the Vegreville Multiplex. The Oilers Community Kick-Off is open to the public and gives the community a chance to enjoy complimentary food, activities and the presence of Oilers Alumni alongside Hunter the Oilers mascot and the Orange and Blue Ice Crew for games and giveaways.
"The Oilers Hockey Clinic is an incredible experience for any community, and we are excited to once again partner with the Oilers to bring the event to Vegreville, Alberta for the very first time," said Wayne Stensby, Managing Director of the Electricity Business at ATCO. "We look forward to seeing everyone at the Community Kick-Off barbecue."
Following Friday's community festivities, the Oilers Hockey Clinic will run on Saturday and Sunday featuring multiple daily on-ice sessions, dryland training, concussion management sessions, physiotherapy clinics and yoga to help further the development of each participant.
